The two projects, although separate, share an identical name with logos that can easily be misinterpreted for the other as well. It’s easy to imagine then that these two DC products would be connected to each other, but the team working on Gotham Knights The game recently clarified that this is not the case and that the two Gotham Knights Products are distinct and separate entities.

Although there were of course some outliers still looking forward to the show, and perhaps more so after the trailer, many voiceover respondents questioned the quality of the series and compared it to other teen-focused shows like Riverdale. For a show revolving around the death of Batman and the fallout associated with it in Gotham City where the younger heroes have to take charge, that may not have been what some DC audiences were looking for.
To be fair, the Gotham Knights The game wasn’t immune to criticism either. The Red Hood wielded magical powers in one of the game’s most recent previews while Nightwing’s chosen traversal method was compared to Fortnite glider. The Batgirl wallpaper has also been modified to remove the handicap metaphors. Warner Bros. has also abandoned the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the Gotham Knights Which is somewhat understandable now but was a disappointment regardless of those who were planning to play the game on those platforms.
However, public opinion of the game appears to be higher than that of the show, at least for the time being. The game will release later this year when it launches in October, and we’ll see more of it soon during Summer Game Fest. The Gotham Knights The TV show is released sometime in 2023, so the game will have some head start in terms of release schedules.
